Eye Test and Vision Check in Sölden.

Good vision doesn’t start with a pair of glasses. It starts with understanding: what has changed, which distances matter, and when does your view stop feeling natural?

A number doesn’t explain a view.

An eye test starts with what you notice. Perhaps distance vision feels less steady, your reading distance is shifting or the screen demands more concentration. Driving, dusk, sport and frequent switching between near and far can reveal other demands.

That is why we first talk about your visual habits, previous glasses, working distances and changes. Measurements only become truly useful once they are connected to your everyday life. Your feedback is not an add-on to the measurement — it is an essential part of it.

Personal conversation about visual habits and everyday life
Subjective refraction with different lens powers

Precision comes from comparison.

Existing prescription values and objective measurements provide a starting point. In subjective refraction you compare different lens powers and describe which image looks clearer or more comfortable. That turns an initial measurement into a correction that clearly matches the way you see.

Depending on the reason for your visit, we also look at near vision and — within the scope offered — how both eyes work together. We then put the results into context: which distances need support, what has changed and which optical solution might follow? A recommendation only comes after conversation, measurement and a shared assessment.

ONE EXAMINATION. SEVERAL DEPTHS.

How far should the examination go?

Standard refraction (€39) determines your current correction values for distance and near vision and is the basis of every glasses or contact lens solution. The extended eye check (€59) also takes time for visual acuity in detail, contrast perception, low light and the distances that shape your everyday life.

If both eyes don’t work together effortlessly — for example with eye strain, double vision or headaches after screen work — we look at binocular vision and, where offered, a prismatic correction (€79). The statutory driving licence eye test (€15) checks only the prescribed minimum requirements and is certified on the spot.

Which level makes sense is something we decide together after the conversation — not in advance. We only charge for a standalone examination if you use it without a subsequent purchase. With glasses from FRANZ, the appropriate refraction and advice are already part of the offer under the current FRANZ offer terms.

DIFFERENT TASKS. ONE CLEAR START.

What does your vision need to work for?

Current prescription values are a foundation. Which solution follows from them depends on distances, movement and the way you see through your day.

Glasses

For new glasses, prescription values are brought together with frame, lens design, centration and your most important everyday distances.

Contact lenses

Contact lenses also need a fitting of their own on the eye. Glasses values alone determine neither geometry, material nor fit.

Screen work

Monitor, desk and room create distances of their own. Photos, your working position and measured distances make the advice more concrete.

Sport & leisure

Movement, shifting gaze, light and protection change the visual task. The optical solution has to suit the activity and the equipment.

A measurement is not yet a finished vision solution. It only becomes meaningful through use, form and personal priorities.

Clear measurement. Clear boundaries.

The optometric eye test determines and checks the optical correction you need. It can assess visual acuity, refraction, near vision and — where offered — aspects of binocular vision. It does not replace an examination by an ophthalmologist and is not intended to diagnose or rule out eye diseases.

Retinal diagnostics, glaucoma diagnosis and medical eye treatment are not part of this service. If anything unusual shows up, we recommend further assessment by an ophthalmologist. Pain, a sudden loss of vision, new flashes of light, a shadow or gap in the field of vision and a markedly red, painful eye do not belong in a routine eye test, but in suitable medical hands straight away.

SEE THROUGH.

Before your appointment.

How long does an eye test take?

The duration depends on the reason for your visit, the question at hand and the scope needed. We clarify the expected time frame with you before confirming the appointment.

Do I need to make an appointment?

An appointment is recommended so that there is enough time for conversation, measurement and explanation. Your request is confirmed personally.

Can I come to the eye test wearing contact lenses?

Let us know in your request which lenses you wear and what the appointment is about. You will receive specific information in advance on whether, and for how long, the lenses should be taken out beforehand.

When should I see an ophthalmologist?

Pain, a sudden loss of vision, new flashes of light, a shadow in the field of vision or a markedly red, painful eye require prompt medical assessment. An optometric eye test also does not replace preventive care by an ophthalmologist.

How much does an eye test cost?

A standalone examination has a fixed price that depends on the scope needed — from standard refraction to an assessment of binocular vision. If you choose glasses at FRANZ, the refraction and advice they require are already included under the current FRANZ offer terms. We tell you the exact amount before the appointment is confirmed.

FIRST UNDERSTAND. THEN RECOMMEND.

Let’s start with the way you see.

Bring your observations, your current vision solutions and the distances that matter in your everyday life. We turn conversation and measurement into a clear next step. Your request is confirmed personally before an appointment is binding.
