SERVICE IS PART OF THE GLASSES.

Eyewear Service in Sölden.

At FRANZ, a pair of glasses doesn’t end with the sale. Fit and alignment can be readjusted, small service jobs are part of an optician’s everyday work, and with damaged glasses I first take a calm look at what can sensibly be done.

Service begins after the purchase.

Glasses change in everyday life. You put them on and take them off, they sit differently after a day in the mountains than they did in the morning, screws loosen and nose pads wear. Much of that can be readjusted in a few minutes, before a small looseness turns into a bigger problem.

That is why I see eyewear service as part of the relationship with my customers, not as a side business. If you bought your glasses at FRANZ, you are welcome to drop in for a check and readjustment. And if you wear glasses from somewhere else, you are just as welcome — we look together at what is possible and sensible.

What gets checked in the workshop.

Depending on the case, I look at the frame fit, screws, nose pads, temples and lens alignment, and readjust whatever can be readjusted. Ultrasonic cleaning, replacing standard nose pads or tightening a screw are quick jobs when the right parts are to hand.

With damaged glasses, an honest assessment comes first: what is technically possible, what makes economic sense, and which solution helps most for the rest of your stay? Hinges, special parts, broken lenses or cracked plastic frames need a closer look first. I don’t give a repair guarantee, and improvised emergency fixes with glue or pliers usually make a clean repair harder rather than easier.

PRECISION, BY HAND.

Aftercare, glasses from elsewhere and the limits.

For glasses bought at FRANZ, aftercare — checks, cleaning and readjusting the fit — is part of the ongoing care. If a repair involves noticeable material or labour, I talk you through what it involves beforehand.

You are generally welcome to come to me with glasses bought elsewhere or on holiday, too. Whether a quick service job or a more involved repair makes sense depends on the frame, the material and the parts available; the scope and whether it is chargeable depend on the actual work, and I clarify both in advance. If a lasting repair isn’t possible straight away, I look for a clean interim solution for the rest of your stay.

ONE WORKSHOP. DIFFERENT NEEDS.

How can I help?

The kind of service determines the effort and the process. These four situations come up most often.

FRANZ glasses & aftercare

Checks, cleaning and readjustment for glasses bought at FRANZ — part of the ongoing care.

Small service job

A loose screw, slipped nose pads, a temple that needs readjusting: often a quick job when the right parts are available.

Glasses from elsewhere or on holiday

I’ll also take a look at glasses bought somewhere else. What is possible and how it is charged, I clarify in advance for the specific case.

More involved repair

Hinges, special parts or broken lenses need a closer assessment. First check, then discuss what can sensibly be done.

Cost and scope depend on the specific service. I can’t promise a blanket free or same-day repair.

Before you drop in.

Can every pair of glasses be repaired?

No. Loose screws, nose pads or slight bends can often be fixed. With broken lenses, special hinges, titanium, cracked plastic or missing model parts, I first check what can sensibly be done.

What does a service job or repair cost?

That depends on the effort and the parts needed. A quick adjustment is a different matter from a hinge or lens problem. It is best to bring the glasses in for a short assessment — I’ll tell you the likely scope beforehand.

Can I come with glasses bought elsewhere or on holiday?

Yes. Whether a repair or an interim solution is possible depends on the frame, the lenses, the material and the parts available. I discuss the scope and whether it is chargeable in advance for the specific case.

Do I need an appointment?

For small problems with your glasses you can usually just drop in; depending on how busy it is, there may be a short wait. For a more extensive repair or a consultation, an appointment makes sense.

What is included for glasses bought at FRANZ?

Checks, cleaning and readjusting the fit are part of the ongoing care. If a repair involves noticeable material or labour, I talk you through what it involves beforehand. This does not mean a blanket free repair.

STRAIGHTFORWARD HELP.

Just drop in with your glasses.

Whether it’s a readjustment, a small service job or the question of whether a repair is worth it: I’ll look at your glasses and tell you honestly what is possible. For bigger jobs, I agree the scope and process with you beforehand.
